Honda Capa (1998-2002) subcompact minivan (hatchback) |
Some people like big, ugly, axe-made cars (Buicks, Dodge Ram's etc), some pretend thay care about the environment (Toyota Prius owning pop-stars), and some just likes "smart things" (and does not own Mercedes Smart!). For those smart boys and girls Honda has a smart car - Honda Capa - roomy hatchback, sometimes called minivan, that is small, spacy, has a good, yet economical engine, four wheel drive and lots of tuning parts available. Honda Z600 coupe, N600 sedan and S600 convertible |
Most of us thought Honda begun it's history as Civic manufacturer. Frankly, it wasn't so. Before Civic, there was Honda 600, and even before that one, Honda produced motorcycles and various engines. So Honda 600 was an obvious outcome - Honda built a schassis, and put in it's 600cc motorcycle engine with a chain transmission. Three different bodies were used - Z600 or simply Honda Z - coupe version of this kei car, N 600 was a sedan (still very similar to hatchback), and S600 - a convertible. Most probably it gave birth to S2000 almost 30 years later. |
Honda Accord CVCC gen1 (1976-1981) history |
First generation Honda Accord CVCC was introduced in 1976, and remained in production for 5 years. It was a 3-door hatchback, compact class car. It has 1,6 L inline four cylinders engine, producing 68 horsepower and having great fuel economy characteristics. The original fuel economy was 46 mpg highway, but with a Weber carburetor kit, it could go as high as 80 mpg with 80 horsepower. Wheelbase was 93.7 inches, and the overall lenght - 411 cm (162 inches). It was smaller than today's Honda Civic 5D hatchback (which is 424 cm long) and of course than Civic 4D sedan, which almost half meter longer. That's why it cost only 4000$ :) |

All new 2009 Honda Insight mk2 |
The all-new Insight was shown to journalists in Europe for the first time at a press event in Valencia. Honda first marketed the original Insight Hybrid in 1999 and has been working on the technology for almost two decades. The motivation behind pursuing this technology is fundamental and basic, avoiding waste. In simple terms, the energy from braking on a car with a conventional drivetrain is lost by being converted into energy that disappears into the atmosphere as heat and noise. The task Honda's R&D engineers set themselves was to harness this energy to the benefit of the customer and the environment. Honda aims to sell 200,000 Insights each year. |
Honda Mobilo mk2 (2004+) |
In 2004, Honda restyled Mobilo, making it a little bit bigger and giving a new, incredibly powerful and economy engine. Two more modificattions added to the Y, A, W list (WT and XT). Y, A, W models had 1,5 i-DSI engine, and the new ones got 1,5 L15A with Honda's famous VTEC. It's 1495 cc engine, producing 120 horsepowers and consuming 1 liter E95 petrol for 17,5 km! That is 5,7 L/100km for a 7-seater MPV! |
