Honda CapaSome people like big, ugly, axe-made cars (Buicks, Dodge Ram's etc), some pretend thay care about the environment (Toyota Prius owning pop-stars), and some just likes "smart things" (and does not own Mercedes Smart!). For those smart boys and girls Honda has a smart car - Honda Capa - roomy hatchback, sometimes called minivan, that is small, spacy, has a good, yet economical engine, four wheel drive and lots of tuning parts available. Isn't that nice? So Get Smart! Get Honda Capa 5-seater!

Sometimes called Capa B, Capa C, it's always basically the same and only Capa GF-GA4 version, produced in 1998-2002. After thatm it was replaced by Honda Mobilo (Mobilio) Spike (Freed, or whatever you call it - and you can find it on of course). First unveiled in Tokyo autoshiow in 1997, Capa was the first of Honda "J-mover" series.

So there are Capa's dimensions and blueprint:

Honda capa blueprintWheelbase 2360 mm
Track front/rear 1425 mm / 1420 mm
Overall length 3790 mm
Width 1640 mm
Height 1650 mm
Clearance 155 mm
Weight 1080 kg
Fuel capacity 40 litres

As you can see, it is comfortable enough for at least 4 people, and cabin space is obviously bigger and multifunctional than any sedan on the market. And talking about Capa exteriour dimensions, it's smaller than today's Civic hatchback (4245 mm). Of course some will argue, that Civic is better-looking than this box on the wheels. And you will be right. But if you are looking for usability, and of course maybe something more interesting, than millions of Civics, produced 1998-2001, you can try this cute box on the wheels. But don't be afraid, it's only exteriour that is different, so if you will need something to be repaired or replaced.

Honda CAPA has Civic's D15B series 1,5 L 98HP (at 6300 rpm) and 133 nm of torque (at 3500 rpm) engine, Honda multi-matic transmission and shassis similar to the one from Honda Logo.

Capa can carry up to 257 kg, because max weight is 1385 kg. aving in mind it's own weight is alround 1100 kg, on front axle it has 690, on the rear one - 410 kg. You can slightly redistribute it by playing with battery and full fuel tank. Why it can be important? Because of 4WD, that was as an option from 1999.

Originally, Capa had R13 alloy wheels with 175/70 tyres, but because of very popular 4x100 bolt pattern, you can easy put R16 with 33 mm offset (ET) and 195/45 tyres. Power windows, AC, power steering, ABS, tinted windows, 2 airbags, sound installation and cassete player as a standart, manual or automatic transmission, 2 or 4 wheel drive - rich options set.

The engine - the same old good 1,5 (1493cc) D15B with PGM-FI system. BorexStroke 75.00 mm × 84.50 mm (2.95 in × 3.33 in). Compression ratio is 9,40:1, and it has single overhead camshaft (SOHC). It consumes up to 9 liters of E95 in city, and as less as 6 in highway. Maximum speed is 175 km/h. Capa's body is with double bottom, there you can find lots of secret places to keep jack, fire-extinguisher etc.

Capa has rack & pinion steering, front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes, top gear ratio 0.74, final drive ratio 3.94.
